Lou and Stephs early morning training sessions, and muller rice recoveries after 88 miles back to back in training!
On the 23rd-27th March I will, with Stephanie James, my running partner in crime, be running 4 marathons back to back, finishing with a 5th at the London Marathon 3 weeks later.
The first 3 marathons will be in the Jurassic Coast https://votwo.co.uk/products/jurassic-coast-challenge. We will be running 26 miles each morning without stopping, then driving home to Maidenhead on the 27th March to run our 4th marathon locally. These 4 marathons will represent the 4 gruelling rounds of high dose chemotherapy that George endured back to back over 4 months following his diagnosis of AML in February 2016. With London marathon, 3 weeks after, representing the final month of recovery for George when he underwent many tests, illness and finally went into remission. I will be running this 5th marathon for Global Make Some Noise who give smaller charities a voice (including Rosie’s Rainbow Fund) Having been supported by so many small self-funding charities in all the hospitals we were in we felt this was as important as research.
We welcome anyone that wants to join us on our local marathon on Monday 27th March to contact us or keep an eye on this page. I will post the route nearer the time and we welcome any company for all or part of the way! Or just a wave and a cheer!! We will be running at about 4 1/2 hour marathon pace (starting at 8 am) if not slower by this stage, as it is the 4th day!
The last 5k we would love some company and we will end in the High Street Maidenhead outside Marks and Spencers and we hope as many people as possible will welcome us back! We will have a DKMS swabbing stand at the finish for anyone who hasn’t become a donor yet and wants to. We will also have charity buckets for any donations that locals may wish to make!!
All the funds raised up until the end of the 5th marathon will be split equally between our 4 main charities that Fightforgeorge supports, see our charities page for more info. £2000 from this event will be donated to Global Make Some Noise (£1000 has already been pledged by the family)
